What is in a Montessori classroom? |
|
|
The Montessori classroom is a child-sized world. It is essentially a living room for the child, in the sense that they are allowed to be comfortable and make it their own. By careful selection of materials, the teacher prepares the environment for the child, shows him or her how to use it, then sits back to observe. Over a period of time, the children develop into a normalized community with higher concentration and fewer interruptions. The materials and curriculum center around: practical life, sensorial, mathematics, language, geography, history, science, art, music, drama, and perceptual motor development.
