Birthdays

Our room will celebrate birthdays individually on your child’s birthday. We would like to do this Celebration of Life with your help.

In order to do this, we need a little story (on poster board) about your child’s life from birth to one; one to two; and so on, until the current age of your child. A great addition to the story is snapshots. This timeline is done to make the children become aware of various stages of their lives, such as learning to walk, talk, skip, ride a bicycle, and so on. Through this activity, your child will be encouraged to develop a positive self-concept while celebrating a very special life!

We hope you will join us in our birthday celebrations! However, please let the teachers know if you plan on attending so she can plan a time that is compatible with your schedule! There is no need to bring treats for the class since your child will be baking his or her own birthday cake with the help of the other children! If you would like to bring a gift to enhance the classroom, your child can present this gift at his/her birthday celebration. Please ask your teacher what the classroom specifically needs and she will be able to give you a list of Montessori-appropriate ideas!

On Wednesdays at the Midland location, children may share items having to do with nature, science, language, geography, or anything pertaining to a subject the class is currently studying, excluding toys and games. A child does not have to share in front of the class, but it is nice when they make this choice for themselves!
